Bill started racing Challenger
Dwarf cars in his native Shelbyville, Tennessee winning the track championship
in his rookie year. In 1999, Bill moved up to the faster Baby Grand Stock
Car Association (BGSCA) winning the local championship in Carthage, Tennessee
and National BGSCA Rookie of the Year honors with a top-ten points position,
32 top-five finishes and 12 victories. Bill joined forces with MHE2 in
2000 when owner Mark Hyjek saw the ability in Bill to, over time, move
the youngster to the highest levels of motorsports. Hyjek's keen eye for
talent was immediately rewarded as the duo set out to dominate the BGSCA
ranks first in Middle-Tennessee and then Nationally. Bill won the 2000
BGSCA National Championship with 14 wins and 21 top-fives, both category-leading
stats for the series. Coming back in 2001, Bill again proved hard to beat
winning the BGSAC Road Course Championship at Nashville Superspeedway
with five wins and setting a track speed record in the process.
In 2002, Christie and MHE2 took Bill's talents to the highest level of
non-touring NASCAR competition, the NASCAR Weekly Racing SuperTruck Series
at Nashville's Fairgrounds Speedway. Driving his first full-size race
machine, Bill took to it as quickly as he has all styles of cars he has
competed in, winning one race, earning five top-five finishes and 15 top-10
finishes in 20 races. Bill finished eighth overall in the points championship
and was runner-up for the rookie of the year honors. In his career, Bill
has raced at famous race tracks such as Nashville Superspeedway, Indianapolis
Raceway Park, St. Augustine Speedway, I-44 Speedway and Kings Park Speedway
in Canada.
2003, MHE2 continued to develop Bill's talents using the non-touring NASCAR
competition, the NASCAR Weekly Racing SuperTruck Series winning one race,
and earning four top-five finishes. MHE2 decided that bill needed to keep
his adaptability at the highest level so, Bill competed at other short
tracks in the Baby Grand. IRP was one of these tracks that Bill tied then
beat Carl Edwards (Craftsman Tuck Series Driver) track record. Bill holds
a B.S. Degree in Financial Institutions Management from Middle Tennessee
State University and is currently seeking his MBA from the school. He
also holds an Associates Degree of Science from Motlow State Community
College. Bill worked as a V.P. at First State Bank of Chapel Hill in the
commercial lending department.
In 2004, MHE2 again achieved Championship status in the MMRA Pro division.
With eleven wins and five track speed records set at famous tracks like
IRP in Indianapolis, and winning the last six events in a row, Bill and
the team put it all together again in championship style.
2005, Bill made a decision to hone his skills on larger NASCAR tracks.
Bill has taken a position as driving Instructor with the Richard Petty
